Day 28 [Video/Action]

[Once again, the feed clicks on during a gym battle, in the last few moments, since Roxas dropped the gear in excitement. Sparky is striking his victory pose as there is a fried Gengar not too far away.

Morty nods in approval and comes forward to congratulate Roxas, although our young hero appears to have other plans. He practically snatches the badge and TM from the stunned gym leader, and runs towards the exit, scooping up the gear on his way out. Sparky has to run to catch up and the feed ends abruptly. This ends the video portion.]

[Once outside, Roxas falls to his knees and is breathing pretty hard, pokegear and TM scattered around him, but the badge is held firmly in his hand. He'll be fine in a few minutes, but it should be obvious that someone really doesn't like ghost pokemon. See Day 13 for details. Once he recovers, he'll want to go for ice cream, so for action people in Ecruteak, feel free to encounter him in front of the gym or while getting ice cream. Video people, all responses will come after he's gotten ice cream and he won't want to talk about what happened.]

Yup. It's the Fog Badge. Now I just have four more to go.

[And he'll hold it up to show off]

I've heard that a group of travellers is curently obtaining their badges in Olivine. We're not too far behind them.

Nope. I hope I can head to Olivine soon so I can get the next badge.

[He puts the badge away safely, and the goes to stare at the different ice creams]

Will you bring Xion with you?

[He goes back to the ice cream himself, but he keeps an eye on Roxas' choice.]

Probably. And Namine to. I won't leave them behind.

[Still no sea salt. Decisions, decisions.]

They'll have to backtrack, if they wish to earn their own badges.

[Mint for Rydia, perhaps? ...Nah.]

Yeah, but I don't think Namine's into getting the badges. We'll have to backtrack for Xion once her pokemon are strong enough.

[Okay, going to go with strawberry then. Sparky likes that flavour.]

At least she'll be able to train quickly, against the local Pokémon.

[Strawberry, an excellent choice. Cecil hasn't decided yet, but already he takes out his wallet.]

It'll help since the levels get higher as we go along.

Training against varied types is also rather helpful. It certainly helped Edges.

Edges? Is that one of your pokemon?

My Eevee. Training him was complicated at first, because of the level disrepancy, but it's helped develop strategies to deal with stronger opponents.

Mm. I'm working on that with Axel and Xion.

Eevee are really popular pokemon...

Probably because of their many potential evolutions. Those make them rather versatile, which can be helpul to trainers with holes in their teams.

Right. There's five? Isn't there?

Three stone-induced evolutions, and two that take place at certain times of the day. Aiming for one is surprisingly easy.

Right, I've seen most of the evolutions. It's weird that it has so many.

Especially since most multiple evolutions form a chain, instead of different paths.

Yeah. Most evolutions are pretty straightforward.

Unless you need to give them to someone while they hold special objects.

Yeah, that's how I got my Slowking.

How did you find out about that particular evolution?

I looked it up in a book. You have to trade it while it's holding a king's rock and then it evolves into Slowking instead of Slowbro.

Leon's Onix also evolved in that manner, but I think there were no alternate evolutions in that case.
