[Once again, the feed clicks on during a gym battle, in the last few moments, since Roxas dropped the gear in excitement. Sparky is striking his victory pose as there is a fried Gengar not too far away.

Morty nods in approval and comes forward to congratulate Roxas, although our young hero appears to have other plans. He practically snatches the badge and TM from the stunned gym leader, and runs towards the exit, scooping up the gear on his way out. Sparky has to run to catch up and the feed ends abruptly. This ends the video portion.]

[Once outside, Roxas falls to his knees and is breathing pretty hard, pokegear and TM scattered around him, but the badge is held firmly in his hand. He'll be fine in a few minutes, but it should be obvious that someone really doesn't like ghost pokemon. See Day 13 for details. Once he recovers, he'll want to go for ice cream, so for action people in Ecruteak, feel free to encounter him in front of the gym or while getting ice cream. Video people, all responses will come after he's gotten ice cream and he won't want to talk about what happened.]

It is part of the reason the kingdom needs a strong army. Monsters often threaten the crops, and we must be able to fight back.

Monsters? Are they like pokemon?

They are, in that there are multiple species and they attack people, but the similarities stop there. Monsters are vicious and prey on humans, with no hope of peace with them.

...They sound like heartless.

I think they play rather similar roles, from what Aerith told me of them. Though monsters would never have the power or inclination to destroy whole worlds.

Even though they attack villages and stuff?

They attack villages for resources, or out of aggressivity. But they are sustained by the world just as much as humans. Dark powers and cataclysms might strengthen monsters, but that is temporary; they'd not be able to thrive very long on a barren world.

But you still have to fight them.

Every time we leave the relative safety of the towns. The monsters near Baron are mostly weak, but Eblan is not so lucky.

At least you're safe in the towns. Heartless can show up pretty much anywhere.

Is there no way to erect barriers against them?

I don't think so.

Is there nothing they dislike or fear?

[He says it with a little smile, since he's pretty proud of his abilities]

While that is good to hear, I doubt you could protect all the worlds at the same time. Unless you have enough keyblades to encircle all the worlds that need help.

...It wasn't my job to protect the worlds. That's Sora's job.

Why can it not be the duty of the both of you? Working together is more efficient than working alone.

[Roxas is kind of avoiding eye contact at this point. It's really hard to explain and he doesn't know if he should go into detail about it]

You might have been chosen because of your previous connections, but you were chosen still. You should be able to use that power to protect if you wish.

[After a moment of hesitation, Cecil puts his hand on Roxas' shoulder.]

I truly doubt there is such a thing as 'too late', you know.

[Roxas opens his mouth to say something, and then stops. He really, really wants to believe that but, given everything that happened, and where he was right before coming here...yeah, it's tough. So, he'll just settle for looking at the floor again.]

If you made a choice you now regret, accept it and choose differently next time. If the circumstances are against you, fight back until you can change them. As long as there is life in you, you can act following your own desires.
