Day 19 - Video/Text/Action for Goldenrod [Not Fourth Wall]

[The video is looking out at the sky, but part of the street and some buildings can be seen. It doesn't take long to figure out that you're up high. The roof of the Goldenrod City department store to be exact. Roxas has just finished his shift and is enjoying the sunset. A few notes in text appear on the screen]

-I made it to Goldenrod City. It's really big here, but I kind of like it.

-Olette evolved in Meganium. She's really big now. Do all pokemon get bigger when they evolve?

-I'm staying at the inn. It's nice. Having my own room.

-Uh, Kisa, my Growlithe hatched. Thank you, again.

[pause]

I wish I'd remembered to bring some ice cream. That would have been the icing on the cake.

I had a weird dream on the weekend. I got to see [hestitation] friends. From home. It was - I wish he - they could have stayed.

She's a Gengar! As a Haunter she was pretty big, but she definitely shrank enough for me to notice.

[Should try opening up to folks sometime, Roxas]

I'll hope he gets here though, I missed Terra and Aqua too.

So, Haunter are smaller than Gengar?

[He opens his mouth to say something, and then decides against it. Vne doesn't need to know that it's because Lea's here and all that. That would just make Ven feel bad.]

Then yeah. It's not a huge difference, but you'd notice it if Caprice was next to Phantom.

[While he's aware by now when Roxas is keeping something to himself, pressing the matter doesn't seem like a good idea]

I see. Well, things'll work out, somehow. Just gotta have faith, like Rika says.

For one thing...faith that things will get better.

But things are already pretty good now.

Yeah, I think they are, too. But sometimes, you seem sort of...lonely.

[pause, long pause. Roxas doesn't know how to respond. He's used to being on his own, so loneliness is something he can understand and deal with. And he doesn't want to come out and say that he's downright jealous of Ven and Sora and the fact that their friends are here and his are...not. Well, Namine counts but he doesn't know her all that well and...there's a lot of thoughts going around in his head]

...I'm fine.

But fine could be better, right?

Yeah, maybe, I guess.

You not sure?

Well, it's not like things are bad or anything...

I'm glad they're not, but you know... You should be able to want better things, if you're not happy.

...[Is he even allowed to do that? He's wanted things before...]

I don't think that option exists...for someone like me. Even if I want it...it probably won't happen.

This isn't the same kinda nonsense Naminé was talking about before, is it?

You're a person, Roxas. The details don't matter - your wants and needs mean just as much as anybody else's.

You're still a person, and you have wishes and dreams like anybody else. So you're a bit different, what does that matter?

[He looks like he's going to say something, then decides not to. There's a silence for a while]

I guess it doesn't really matter here.

[Someday he'll get you to say what's on your mind, Roxas. But he won't pry it out]

I never knew about um...people without hearts, before I came here, but... I believe it always matters, just not in the way you and Naminé think. Not sure how people treated you back home, but I don't think anybody here thinks you're anything less than any of them, or that you shouldn't have the same things.

I guess that makes sense. I...need to think about it some more.

[Nammers made it sound like such an awful thing, though Ven doesn't understand why]

Okay. But remember that what we care about's that you're you, alright? No matter what things you decide, that'll still be true.
