R.... Roxas? Is that you?

Mimi! Yeah, it's me.

[He's relieved to see a familiar face]

Are you okay? Everything is so... weird! I don't know what to do!

Yeah, I'm alright. Just a little...weirded out.

I don't know either. I think it has something to do with a pokemon.

This is... really spooky. It's like being in an actual digital world...

It is. I don't like it.

[Roxas doesn't want to admit it, but he is kind of scared.]

Your digital world wasn't like this?

[she shakes her head vigorously, and her hat tumbles down her back, held in place only by the strings around her neck]

No! It looks and feels like a real world. Not... like this.

This is definitely different. It's a lot different from the digital Twilight Town

Are...you okay?

I'm... [SCARED]

I'll be okay. I'm not by myself, so if anything happens, Taichi will help me.

That's good. Is Taichi a friend of yours?

[she nods]

He was with me in the Digital World.

I see. It's good that he showed up then. Where are you?

Cherrygrove City... where are you?

I'm in Violet. It's just as bad.

Are people sure this isn't the Digital World?

I'm pretty sure it's still Johto, unless Johto was digital to begin with.

Do you think Johto was a part of the Digital World from the beginning, and we just didn't know it?

Maybe it was. I don't really have any way of tell though.

Is he another of your friends?

Mmm... he's the one who knew the most about the Digital World. He'd be able to help us.

It sounds like it.

I...kind of hope it isn't digital though.

[picking up on that] You do?

Yeah. I was in a digital world to...before this one. It...[there's a few attempts to start the sentence but he fails so it just sort of hangs]

[a pause]

It... what?

Yeah, but I don't think it was yours though. It...things were...it was bad.

Oh... I'm sorry it was bad. [she sounds sincere about this, too]

I don't know, but mine are the same.

So they're staying in their pokeballs...I'm glad it's not just mine.

Whatever's happening, it seems to be universal.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. That the whole world's gone blocky and stuff.

Hopefully, it's temporary.

It better be. I liked this world the way it was before.

All the Pokémon over here are acting like this. And ever since the whole world went blocky, the locals started acting strangely.

Even the wild ones? And it's the whole world?

Every single one of them, including the square ones. It was like that in Cherrygrove when I left this morning, and it's the same thing in Violet right now.

Violet? How did you get there so fast? It usually takes ten days.

[And the fact that he's made it to Violet in record time as well hasn't really occurred to him]

I'm not certain. I went on a walk this morning, and before long I was standing in front of the tower.

That's...really weird. It must be part of all other weird things that are going on.

Between the strange monsters and the squares, easier travel is the least of our worries.

Have you met any of the strange ones?

A few. They were made of piled up squares, but a friend of mine mentioned seeing some that were made of bones. I have not heard of anyone who has managed to defeat them. They escape before we can do so.

So there's different types? Maybe it's a new species of pokemon.

I hope so. Pokémon seem to follow certain rules of existence. I'd would be nice if we could apply them to these.

There are exceptions to every rule.

Where do they show up?

From what I've seen, anywhere you can normally find wild Pokémon. I have not yet seen any in buildings, but by this point it wouldn't surprise me.

I guess if I stick to the city, I should be alright then. I...don't think I want to meet one.

That might be a good idea, considering no one is quite sure of what they do.

Yeah, especially if they all look different.

Hopefully, it will end as quickly as the hallucinations.

I really hope it does. This doesn't...feel right.

...I know. Especially our Pokémon...

It's almost like they're not really with me.

...That might be the best case scenario. What if they were fully aware, but unable to do more than obey our orders? Locked within their own bodies, and forced to suppress any part of themselves that might surface? Temporary oblivion and amnesia might be kinder to them.

I guess so. I'm gonna try to avoid battling just in case.

Unless you feel the need to see how far you can go with these new short routes, you shouldn't have any problems with that.

That's the plan, really.

S-same for mine. Salty doesn't even like her pokeball. I can't get her to come out.

[There's a hint of fear and panic in her voice even if she's trying her best to calm down. This isn't working well.]

It's the same with Sparky. He comes out for battles but that's it.

Are you alright, Namine?

I haven't left the inn again. Earlier we ran into a pokémon that looked like it was made entirely out of pixels.

[She's more genre savvy about this because of her time in Twilight town with the simulation.]

I'm fine. Just a little worried and confused to what's going on.

It kind of reminds of of the simulated Twilight town...

You're at the inn? Is it as pixellated as everywhere else?

[He may just head there once he meets up with Kisa. Safety in numbers and the pokemon center is creepy]

I guess it's sort of like that.

Mm. But at least those... skulls and pixel-like pokemon don't get in here.

Where are you now?

I'm in Violet now. I have to go to the pokemon center to get Kisa. I think I'll come to the inn after, if that's alright.

Go ahead. It would be probably be better. Be careful.

[I was figuring we could turn this into an action thread once Roxas meets up with Kisa]

[ and sure enough, whenever Roxas gets there, there's a silent and scared twelve-year-old clinging to his hand like a lifesaver. Hello, Naminé! ]

[She opens the door a fraction, opening it wider when she sees who it is in relief.]

Roxas!

[She sees Kisa too and doesn't hesitate to sidestep to let them in.]

It's safe inside.

[Roxas speeds up a bit when he sees the door open, and hopes he isn't dragging Kisa]

Namine!

[He runs into the inn, and smiles, in spite of the events. He's glad to see Namine again, even if this wasn't how he imagined the meeting would go. He looks over at Kisa.]

I think we're okay now.

[ no worries, Roxas, she's only stumbling a little, but very quickly regaining her balance. There's a very quiet sigh of relief from her, but she's a little reluctant to let go of his hand as she looks timidly up at Naminé. ]

[She can't help but smile widely too, watching carefully as they went in and shutting the door when they're safely in.]

Mm, I hope so. They haven't gotten into the buildings. Who's this?

[Namine hasn't seen a lot of children before, so she offers Kisa what she hopes is a friendly smile, bending down a little to peer at her.]

This is Kisa. She's a friend I made here. Kisa, this is my friend Namine.

[Roxas understands the reluctance and keeps holding her hand. He's just started to notice how tired he is, since he's been on his feet for most of the day and worrying about your pokemon takes a lot of energy.]

[ She blinks, studying the older girl thoughtfully-- and, though still mostly terrified because she hasn't the foggiest as to what's going on, she gives her a very shy smile and a bit of a bow. If she's Roxas' friend, she must be okay. ]

Nice to meet you, Kisa.

[She gives Kisa a nice, warm smile before turning her attention to Roxas.]

... Roxas, you look like you need rest. Maybe you should lay down for a while?

[Roxas nods]

Yeah, that would be good. I walked all the way from the Union Cave. I think I'll bee alright if I just sit.

[ in response, Kisa releases his hand, opting to shift a little closer to Naminé then. The look she gives Roxas is a clearly concerned one. ]

[She doesn't seem to mind, placing a gentle hand on the younger girl's shoulder comfortingly as she talks.]

All the way? Isn't that far from here?

[Another nod]

Normally it takes about ten days, but, it only took a few hours. I think it's an effect of what's going on. Other people are getting to places really fast.

[He flops on a bed with a sigh. It's nice to lie down]

[ At least he's resting now, which is enough to make Kisa relax slightly and lean against Naminé. Just a little bit. ]

Get some rest. I'll keep an eye out on things. I can't sleep with this music anyway.

[She peers down at Kisa thoughtfully.]

What about you, are you tired?

Okay. I don't think I can sleep either, with everything that's going on.

[Roxas looks at Kisa as well.]

Were you travelling with anyone?

[ she shakes her head at the older girl - she's too scared for that - and then nods at Roxas, holding up four fingers.

... She kind of panicked and took off. ]

[Namine promptly doesn't say anything about the lack of speech from the girl. Maybe she had her reasons.]

Are they still out there?

[Roxas nods.]

Maybe we can contact them over the pokegear. They can't have gone far.

[ thank you, Naminé, she appreciates it and is possibly sticking even closer to her now. Time to find her Pokégear to start texting madly to her cousin. ]

[Of course. As Kisa does that, she turns back to Roxas.]

Was she alone out there?

She was when I found her in the center. But I wasn't really looking for anyone else.

[ and there's no response just yet, so she slumps down a little. She's sure they're fine, though. It's just been too chaotic for her to keep a clear head. ]

[She notices and pats Kisa's shoulder a little.]

I'm sure they'll be fine. You should rest too, though.

We'll go looking for them when everything's cleared up.

[ have a grateful look, you two. And a shaky nod, either in response to the reassurance or Naminé's suggestion. Possibly both. ]

[She guides Kisa by the shoulders to the bed too, looking out the blocky window thoughtfully.]

I hope everything goes back to normal.

Yeah, me to.

[He wants Sparky back]

[ she's allowed herself to be led, not quite able to voice her own thoughts, but it's clear enough just by looking at her. She feels the same way. ]

I miss having my pokémon around.

[And to be able to sketch. There are some blocks of white with blurry pixels on them around her room. It might not look like it, but those are her sketches. They turned pixely the moment Halloween hit as well.]

Why do you think this happened?

I dunno, but it doesn't seem good.

It really isn't good. I mean, none of this is normal.

[He's managed to get a definition of normal for this place]

Yeah, something's got to be going on. I mean, so far everything around here looks wrong.

It's not just the world. It's the pokemon to.

Maybe, or maybe something's controlling them. Like a pokemon.

There could be. I mean, they're pretty powerful on their own.

Yeah! It's all blocky along route 32...[pause]...when'd I get to Violet?

I wish I knew.

[ Kisa's way too scared to even think about texting for now, but Ari's gone inside her Pokéball, too, and the eggs look all... odd. So really, all she can do is look at Roxas like she has no idea what's going on. ]

[Roxas wishes he could have an answer for her, but he's as much in the dark as she is.]

Are you alright, Kisa? I think I'm almost in Violet.

[ trembling like mad, but she nods. The news that Roxas is close seems to perk her up a little. ]

Where are you right now? It's probably safe to stay in the Pokemon center.

[ she moves the camera-- she's definitely in the Pokémon Center, but she's also huddled in a corner of it. Every single NPC in the lobby is creepy and repetitive and even the nice nurse has fallen victim to the same lines. ]

[Roxas nods. He's started to head to Violet because if people are there, then he can get help or at least information. The pixels are starting to creep him out.]

I'll be there soon.

[ Kisa mimics the nod, curling up to wait. ]

[It takes him some time, but Roxas finally makes it to Violet city. The pixellation is seriously creeping him out but he makes his way to the pokemon center regardless. Admittedly, this is not how he imagined meeting Kisa.]

Kisa, where are you? I'm here!

[ upon hearing her name, there's suddenly a golden-haired blur racing towards you, Roxas. And now that she knows contact with a male won't activate her curse...

Prepare for collision. ]

[Roxas was not expecting that, and falls down. He's not hurt though.]

Hey. Sorry to keep you waiting.

[ ... oops. Kisa scrambles off of him immediately, wide-and-teary-eyed and absolutely apologetic. Why is HE apologizing? ]

It's okay, I'm fine.

[Roxas stands up and dusts himself off.]

Are you okay?

... [ not really. She's somewhat terrified, and she's-- yep, definitely crying. But she nods anyway. ]

[Roxas is not quite sure how to comfort her, but he holds out his hand]

C'mon, let's get out of here. I have a friend at the inn. I think it'll be a bit safer there.

[ she'll keep an eye out for Savyna and group, but reach out to take his hand, wiping her eyes with her free one. ]

We'll be alright. The inn isn't too far from here.

[pause]

Don't worry.

... [ nods, tightening her grip on his hand. ]

[Roxas looks around, and then heads out of the pokemon center. Violet's still pretty blocky, so his guard's up and he kind of wishes he could summon his keyblade. Not that it'd do much, but he'd feel better]

[ She'd feel better if she was in a better form for defending herself, but that curse/ability's been sealed, too. So she just hangs on and follows him. ]
