Yeah. From what I figured out, you have to collect eight badges in order to challenge the Elite Four and become the champion.

It seemed like something good to go for.

Well, I never gave Rattata a nickname, and it'd be kind of confusing to keep calling it that. If it has a nickname, I don't think you have to change it.

Hmm... It's about the same distance as route 30. So... About a week, I think.

The trip itself isn't so bad. The wild Pokemon won't give you any trouble at all if your Pokemon are on the same level as Falkner.
