Day 9 - Accidentle video/Action for those in Violet City Pokemon Center

[Roxas has been fighting Unknows non-stop pretty much since he got to a place where he could help. However, he's been pushing himself in an attempt to prove himself to Kovu, and his conversation with Ven kinda has him unnerved. And as we all know, angry people tend to make mistakes.]

[There's a sour expression on his face as he wakes up and realizes that he's in the pokemon center in Violet]

This wasn't supposed to happen.

[Uh...accidental video. Should mention that.]

_{[As Roxas undoubtedly experienced, things are pretty crazy out on the fringes of town. Between the rapid crystallization and the flurries of Unown themselves, it's sort of hard to catch a moment of quiet, even now that most of the trainers involved in actively fighting off the Unown swarms are sort of biding their time outside the city.]

[Taking a breather, Heather's been flicking through the video transmissions she's missed hastily, not really having the focus to respond to many of them except-- .... hey.]}

..... Roxas?

Yeah?

You okay?

Fine. Sorta.

[It's clear he's in the pokemon center]

_{[The background wasn't lost on her.]}

... Did you get hurt?

Not really. A few scratches.

That's good.

... Everything okay in the Center?

_{[She'd been sort of worried about that place getting crystallized in, but... maybe the stuff hadn't spread that far yet.]}

Yeah. Everything seems fine here. But it's really busy.

[He holds up the pokegear to show the crowds]

Yeah, I can see why...

_{[The Pokemon Center had been the main refuge for everyone during the floor, so there was no reason why people wouldn't flock there when something like this was going on, too...]}

Has the crystal gotten that far yet? Or is the building still pretty clear of it?

I haven't seen any here. I don't know about outside though.

I'll look out for it though. Is it still bad where you are?

I'm towards the western edge of town, and-- yeah, it's pretty bad.

I almost got stuck in an alleyway full of it.

Are you okay?

They're worse than heartless [Mumbled, kinda incoherent]

Little shook-up, but yeah, I'm fine. I was about two seconds away from being turned into a frozen slushy, though.

_{[She ticks her head to one side, brows furrowing.]}

... Beg pardon?

How'd you get out?

Nothing.

_{[All right, he doesn't wanna elaborate. No biggie. Heather could be nosy when her curiosity was really piqued, but she actually did have a pretty healthy respect for others' privacy. After everything she'd been through herself, it was hard not to.]}

Well, it was pretty badass if I do say so myself.

_{[HUMILITY WHAT'S THAT.]}

I had to do some quick maneuvering, but I managed to jump up the walls and grab onto a fire escape. You shoulda been there, it was epic.

Wow...that sounds pretty impressive.

Are you still fighting?

I try not to brag.

_{[Really Heather. Really.]}

And uh-- sort of. It's pretty chaotic here, but every so often I've been ducking out to check up on things. _{[... Largely because she's... looking for certain people.]}

Still? Those pokemon are still at it?

[He wants to get out of bed and help out again, but if he did people would probably yell at him, and his pokemon aren't healed yet]

At the moment? Yeah... it's... there's thousands of 'em.

_{[The good thing was that they were fairly easy to beat... it was just that there were so many.]}

And they all came from the ruins? No wonder Sora felt like he was being watched.

Jeez, I sure don't blame him.

If I never see another enormous eyeball in my life, I will be perfectly happy.

[He has some time to "kill" before Kamina and his team head out.]

What wasn't supposed to happen?

[Roxas pauses and looks over at Bridget. He's clearly lying when he speaks]

Nothing.

That doesn't make a lot of sense.

It's not your problem. [He looks away, not wanting to admit to anything]

Then why did you say it out loud? People only say things like that to get attention.

Didn't mean to. Didn't think anyone was listening.

[loooming over him]

Are you all right, dear?

[He looks up and then looks away]

I'm fine.

But you sound so sad...

It's nothing really...I --

[He trails off.]

Please... perhaps I can help, even if it's just to listen.

[He opens his mouth to talk but stops, not sure what to do. He feels like he should be able to talk to Minnie for some reason, but is failing rather miserably.]

[then quietly]

I lost.

[slowly nods in understanding, and then lightly touches his shoulder.]

It happens to everyone... I've lost a few times myself. But you can always learn from your losses.

I didn't think I would ever lose like that.

What's important is that you're all right. You shouldn't be too arrogant... but maybe now you can win.

I...I've been training though. [He knows she's right, but still, he feels bad. He hasn't lost this badly before]

You can't always win. But it's not the worst thing in the world.

[... do you want a hug? you'll be getting a hug anyway.]

[Roxas is just gonna sit there, embarrassed, and let Minnie hug him. It's kinda nice, but he won't admit that]

[And she lets go, all smiles.]

Feeling better?

[pause]

A little.

Good.

We're friends... you can always come to me for anything.

[another pause.]

I'll...remember that.

Good. Now I want you to rest up until you and your Pokemon are all better, and no sooner.

I will.

[He's not up for battling again anyway]

...Are you okay?

...I am, yeah. [his expression says otherwise]

...Really?

[It's not that she doesn't believe you! But you don't seem happy :(]

[Roxas nods.]

Yeah, it's just a few scratches.

You looked really sad...

What wasn't suppose to happen? [She'll be watching you a few feet away.]

[mumbled]

I wasn't supposed to lose.

[She'll get up and lean down.] Hey, it's okay. There's nothing wrong in losing once in a while. Who beated you?

I was fighting the Unknown.

[She looks worried again.]

Are you okay? The Unknowns didn't hurt you, right?

Just a few scratches.

[Leans over a bit to check on Roxas from top to bottom.]

So far, I can tell you don't have any serious injuries. [She smiles a bit.] I'm glad that you're okay.

What about your pokemon? Are they okay too? Chansey can check on them if you want.

Nurse Joy is looking after them. I think they're alright.

Then what did happen?

Nothing.

[Like he's gonna tell Riku]

Sure doesn't sound like nothing.

Well, it is. I'm fine.

Then why are you getting so defensive?

[Long pause. Stubborn nobody is stubborn]

I'm---I lost, alright?

[Ah, that makes sense.]

Well, it's not like Falkner's a pushover. How strong was your team, exactly?

It wasn't against Falkner. It was against the Unknown.

Pretty strong. [At least, he thinks, or thought, so]

Heh. How many did you fight?

A lot. It was hard to tell.

Is something wrong?

Not really.

[Y'know, having the same face, he's really not convinced. But here, he'll try another angle]

Did anything happen?

[Pause. Well, he can't really say "no", even though he wants to]

I was helping fight the Unknown. I lost.

Well, there are an awful lot of them...

[he can understand being frustrated all the same though]

But you did your best, right?

I guess so. Yeah.

Then I'm sure you helped.

[Roxas just nods. He hopes he did, but he's not entirely convinced]

Are you and your team alright?

[Another nod]

Yeah. They're getting healed right now.

That's good.

[And there's a pause; he's not sure he can cheer Roxas up, and it's sort of awkward trying, but he still wants to]

I bet next time you'll be even stronger, and things'll go better. Everybody's got setbacks sometimes.

[pause]

Maybe. Yeah.

If you want, let's train sometime. My pokémon might not be as strong as yours, but practice always helps, right?

[Roxas looks a little bit better at that idea]

Sure, we can do that.

[So Ven'll grin]

Alright! Just give me a heads-up whenever you wanna do that, then.

I will.
